INVISIBLE WOUNDS – PTSD Awareness Seminars for 2016 – FREE

We were lucky enough to receive a grant from the ANZAC Day Trust to take our Invisible Wounds – Service PTSD Awareness Seminars on the road to country areas.  These seminars are open to all Veterans, Military, ex-military, Police, Fire & Emergency Services, Ambulance, Corrective Services, partners, family members, friends, health professionals and work colleagues.

We will be heading off to the South West on Monday 11th April to do a series of seminars for Invisible Wounds – Service PTSD Awareness.

We will be begin in Pinjarra on Monday 11th April.   We have a variety of speakers and topics that will enable attendees to learn about PTSD.  Treatments (both traditional and alternative –  exercise, laughter).  We will be at the Pinjarra RSL, Pinjarra Road, Pinjarra.  The seminar will be from 6.00pm until 9.00pm.  The seminar is FREE and refreshments will be provided.


We will then be in Busselton on Wednesday 13th April. We will be at the Busselton RSL, Rosemary Drive, Busselton.  The seminar begins at 10.00am until 1.00pm  The seminar is free and refreshments will be provided.  Please advise on 0488 878 292 or if you are able to attend.

We will be at the Albany RSL on Friday 15th April.  The RSL is on Stirling Terrance in Albany.  The seminar will commence at 10.00am until 1.00pm.  As with the previous seminars in Pinjarra and Busselton the seminars are FREE and refreshments will be provided.


We are currently working on dates and venues for the next series of seminars which will head off towards Geraldton and should begin the week of the 2nd May.  We will keep you informed so that you can pass this information on to anyone who may benefit from attending.

Coming events for 2016


April 24th will be the Len Hall Game at the Dockers game at Subiaco Oval.  This year they will be commemorating Long Tan Day and Vietnam Veterans.  If you are a Vietnam Veteran and would like to participate in the Pre-Game activities then please contact Kathryn Lloyd at Perth DVA Office.

April 25th is ANZAC Day and we would ask that you attend any of the services that will be held across the country.  There will be Dawn Service, country services and the main March and Service in the City.


May 10th.  We are having another workshop together so if you live in the country and would like to attend and put forward your thoughts then please let me know on 0488 878 292.  We can cover your accommodation for 2 nights and travelling expenses.  If you are a financial members please give this some serious thought and come along and have your input in this.  Please let us know so that we can make the necessary bookings.

May 10th.  We are going to be a ‘teenager’ this year.  Please come along and join in the fun of our birthday party.  It will be held after the workshop; commencing about 12.00 noon.  Please let us know if you will be attending for catering purposes.

May 25th –  Honouring Indigenous Service.  There will be a service held at the Kings Park Flame of Remembrance commencing at 10.00am. Please be seated by 9.45am.  After the service you are invited to join them for morning tea at the Wildflower Pavilion.  We will be laying a wreath on the day.

May 27th –  Today is PTSD Awareness Day.  We will be having our annual stall  in the Murray Street Mall.  We will also be using the day for ‘tin rattling’ as it is a major fundraising day for us.

We will be needing volunteers to help to rattle tins for us.  This can be members, family, friends to come down and give us a hand.  Please let us know if you can help out.

If you live in the country and would like to collect in your town can you please let us know and we will send you a kit.

May 30th is North American Veterans Day and there will be a service held at the Kings Park Flame of Remembrance.  The March begins at 10.52am so please be seated by 10.30.  We will be laying a wreath on the day.


There will be a Special General Meeting held on Tuesday 28th June at the Carer Centre.  Notice of this will be sent out at the beginning of June.


This year is the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Ta.  We have applied for a grant to enable us to have a service at St Georges Cathedral on Friday 19th August.  As soon as we learn the results of the application we will get back to you with the details.


The Annual General Meeting will be held on the first Monday of September at the Carer Centre.  Notification will be sent out in August.


Long Tan Remembrance Day Golf Challenge will be held on Wednesday 26th October at Altone Park Golf Course.  This is a fundraiser for the Association as well as a remembrance day for Long Tan and Vietnam Veterans.  We would appreciate help from volunteers on the day



Social Events for 2016

April – Whiteman Park – Entrance off Beechboro Road, Whiteman. Meet at 11.00am at the Visitors Centre.  It is Free entry althouygh some rides do have a cost.  Please check their websie for information.  Please BYO a picnic or buy lunch at the Café.

May  – 13th Birthday Party –  Dayzeez Delites – at the office  we will be having a ‘teenager’ birthday party so come along and join in the fun.  Please let us know if you will be attending for catering purposes.

June – June 15th will be a Train journey from Midland to Toodyay.  The cost is $17.30 return or you can use your free travel voucher (if you have one).  Details closer to the date.

July – 12th –This is during the school holidays.  We will be having Dayzeez Delites at the office with a Pamper Session with DeArne,  Please bring a plate to share and also please advise if you will be coming so that we can give DeArne the number of people who will be attending Pamper Day.

August 17th Kings Park Spring Wildflower Festive – Guided Tour.  Please meet at the Guide Sign at 10.00am and the cost is $5 each.  Please bring a picnic BBQ or buy lunch from the café.

September 5th – Annual General Meeting.  Will be held at the Carer Centre.  Please bring a plate for morning tea.

September 12th to 16thBusselton Respite Week at the Legacy Camp in Busselton.  Costs to be advised.  Please advise us if you are interested in attending.

October 14th – Ferry to Fremantle. Catch the ferry to Fremantle and the train back to Perth.  Fish and Chips for lunch and the costs will be the fares and lunch.

November 4th – 5th –  Bruce Rock.  We will be in Bruce Rock again this year for the Back to the Bush Reunion.  We will be having the afternoon teat at the club again this year on the Friday afternoon and will be participating in the market stall on the Saturday morning.

November 22nd – Christmas LunchCaptain Cook River Cruise and lunch.  Departs Perth 11.30am and returns at 2.00pm.  The ferry leaves and returns from the Barrack Street Jetty.  The cost is approximately $65 but you can pay it off.  All costs must be paid a week before the event.
