The 14th Annual Golf Day was held on Wednesday 18th October at the Altone Park Golf Course.
We had 64 golfers of various categories and I must admit we had a brilliant day.
There were Vietnam Veterans, Current and ex serving Defence Personnel, Partners, friends and other people who all participated in this Annual event

The Golf Day was originally organised by the DiDiMau Social Club which was a group of Vietnam Veterans who regularly played at the Altone Park Golf Course. They wanted to find a way to remember their mates who died or served in Vietnam. They did not want to hold another ‘service’ and decided to hold a golf match to remember instead.

The Vets asked our Association if we would take over the organising of the event so that they could then enjoy the event without the stress of organising it.

The Golf Challenge was meant to be a one off event and this year we celebrated the 14th Challenge.

The event used to be held on the Wednesday before Vietnam Veterans Day but the weather has been against us for many years so we moved it to October as part of Veterans Health Week which is organised by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The weather is kinder at this time of the year and most people are back from their holidays to the sun.

The winners of the various places were:
Vietnam Veteran Pairs Richards and McIntyre
Best Gross Jackman and Parkin
Best Nett Rowell and Meyer
Third Johnson and Hurley
Fourth Williamson and Taylor
Fifth Spirkowski and Diedrick
NAGA Carnegie and Paterson

We would like to thank the following for all their help with donations and prizes etc for the winners and for the raffles.
Department of Veterans Affairs, Activate Life Rehabilitation, Altone Park Golf Course and staff, Alton Park Driving Range, Game On Sports, as well as various wonderful people who gave of their time and efforts for the day.

As a special thank you I would like to thank Ray Wesson for being the BBQ chef on the day. It was a delicious lunch.

Thank you so much to the volunteers from Partners of Veterans WA Inc who gave their precious family time to come along and help out with preparing the lunch, selling raffle tickets, etc.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped over the years to keep this wonderful event happening.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
